Four Reasons You Should Visit Iceland During the Pandemic

If you are thinking about visiting Iceland during the Pandmiec, I recommend it. Here are the four reasons you should visit Iceland during the Pandemic.

1.) High Vaccination Rate

As of September 2021, Iceland has a 77% vaccination rate.  Iceland and Icelanders took the pandemic seriously. Now that there are vaccines, they have made it a point to ensure that their citizens are vaccinated and those visiting their country are vaccinated. In order to enter Iceland, you have to have a negative Covid test and show proof of vaccination or previous Covid infection. While tourism is a large part of Iceland’s economy, they recognize that safety is a priority. For more information regarding the Covid restrictions please visit here.

Their high vaccination rate is one of the major reasons why I decided to visit Iceland during the Pandemic.

2.) Compliance

While visiting Iceland, I was relieved that not only were the visitors complying with mask requirements but so were the Icelandic citizens. Traveling during COVID has its inherent risk and when choosing a country to travel to, I wanted to make sure that they were as cautious and compliant as I was. It is so important that we protect each other during the pandemic, even as we open up. I am happy that Iceland and its visitors are in agreement.

3.) Spacious

Iceland is a spacious country with a lot of things to offer. Many of those things involve hiking, site seeing, glacier walking etc. Compared to visiting NYC during the pandemic, there are many areas in Iceland that will leave you more than six feet/ 2 meters apart. One of the best aspects of my trip to Iceland was that I was able to solo travel in areas with such beauty and nature while also not feeling so alone.

4.) Rejuvenation

It has been over a year since the start of the pandemic and many of us continue to isolate or socially distance ourselves.  It has been a hard year for all of us and many may be ready/ in need of a break. The beauty of Iceland can really rejuvenate the soul. The landscape is stunning and has a way of transforming you. If you are looking for a place to hide out, relax and reconnect with nature and/or yourself, Iceland is the place to go.

Look out for my upcoming post about my Iceland Journey and what I did while visiting Iceland during the Pandemic
